Shtetls
Hostels of poverty, those of Knesset Israel ,
Past generations castigated them as did
the next generations of authors and rhetoricians
Rhymesters, poets kept undermining them
They were jeered and mocked by the
Foolish and by the wise
Kingdoms and dominions enslaved them
battalions of rioters violated them
Bandits robbed them ,
At last - they ceased to be, vanished.

Jewish Communities from Poland

The football stadium of Kleczew, Kalisz Province, Poland, once the Jewish Cemetery of the Community. There is not even a Memorial Plaque! Who will remember the Jews of Kleczew, who were murdered by the Germans in mass graves in the Kazimierz forest, and their ancestors' graves were blasphemed... and the sun still shines over the beautiful playground of Kleczew...

The Burnt Genealogical Book - Aba Kobner

And while I immigrated to Israel after World War II, I used to meet the young people of the country, and listen to their songs and talk as human beings and Jews, who have a clear consciousness that they really write a new Genealogical book, which starts in them. And while I think about the Genealogical book which was burnt in Europe, I had double sorrow about this excellent Israeli young generation, for while they will grow old may be they will not even know what they should have cried about -
