The Memorial to the Polish Jewry in Modiin

(Letter translated by Ada Holtzman) To Our Friends in Israel and the Diaspora, In the Memorial Forest of Polish Jewry, grow and flourish new trees. This initiative, work of cooperation between the World Federation of Polish Jewry, the Association of Polish Jews in Israel and the National Fund (Keren Kayemet Le'Israel), constitute another commemoration to the grand Jewry of Poland which was and which is no more. The forest was inaugurated in May 1995, 50 years after the victory of the Allies on Nazi Germany. The Jews of Poland in Israel and in the Diaspora, the survivors, the fighters, the Partisans, the Camps prisoners and Holocaust survivors, including 2^nd and 3^rd generation, became partners of this important project. Every one of us, as an individual or as a group, may commemorate the memory of his beloved family member, friend or acquaintance who perished in the horrible Holocaust. Thus a living and flourishing forest will be the memorial to the three million Jews of Poland.
Also organizations of Communities (Landsmenschaften) can contribute towards planting plots of trees In Memoriam, for the memory of their destroyed Community. Other cultural, economical and social organizations may follow and set the forest of the Polish Jews, a place of inspiration to the next generations. The National fund will provide a special certificate to every donor according his requests and wishes. This is an important venture. Please help us develop and maintain it so we can continue our endeavors in the independent State of Israel.
