STILL SEARCHING…

Cywia Liverant is still searching for her brother Ancel NAJMAN. After more than 70 years of separation, she still has a hope to trace him or at least learn what happened to him during WWII.

KNOWN FACTS

Family NAJMAN originated in the small village Perzanowo near Maków Mazowiecki, Poland. The Najman big family (8 brothers) was the only Jewish family in the village.

The father was Mosze NAJMAN (1905), son of Szmuel and Sara. The mother was Rywka (1909) née GOLONDZINER.  4 children were born: Cywia (1930), Szmuel (1933), Chawa (1936), Ancel (1938) (there may be errors in the year of birth).

During the war the family escaped eastwards, to the Soviet Union through Białystok and Minsk. There is an evacuation list on 3.3.1942 found at Yad Vashem, from Minsk to Zherdevka near Tambov, Russia. All the family was alive then. The father Mosze (“Missi” in the list) was enlisted to the Red Army in Tambov and fought in the battles for Estonia liberation. The mother with the 4 little children continued from there eastward. On their way they worked for a while in a factory where little Ancel’s arm was cut and he remained amputee.

Then they arrived to Kirgizia, the town of Frunże. A woman named Dvora Lasal, her husband was an officer in the Red Army, gave the mother, Rywka the salary of Mosze, which was transferred to her. This kept them alive. And then the mother died of hunger and was buried in an unknown cemetery but without a tombstone. After the mother passed away, Dvora Lasal, found for the 3 young children a place at children houses and the eldest, Cywia, got work at a factory nearby.. Dvora Lasal also offered her a room at her house, She later even gave shelter at her home to little Chawa.

After the War Mosze returned to Frunże, Kirgizia, and took away the three grown up children. But little amputee Ancel was not found anymore.

TRACES

During the years the family searched the child through the Joint, the Red Cross, and Searching Relatives of the Jewish Agency and other measures but to no avail.
