FLIDERBAUM
Mieczyslaw Mosze (1896-?), was born in During many years he
was the secretary of the known Jewish philanthropy, the Baron Dawid Ginzburg,
and because of that he managed to have constant contacts with Jewish public activists.
Mieczyslaw was always also connected to the Jewish musicians' circles in When he was in In the 30s he was
member of the "Polish Quartet" whose artists were: Irena Dubienka,
Emil Młynarski, Eliasz Kochanowski and himself. During the time there
were changes in the composition when the viola player Mieczysław
Szlawski appeared to be anti-Semite, then Fliderbaum left the quartet. The newspaper
"Warszawer Kurier" from In 1936 Fliderbaum
arrived to Tel Aviv and joined the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra. Most of the music
critics considered him to be one of the most important players of the
National Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra. He was considered violinist with high
musical culture and magnificent technique. "And on top of all he was
also full of grace and noble behavior".

He was born in Sosnowiec. His father, Szmuel, was a violinist and his mother
a piano teacher, and indeed he learned from her the elements of playing the
piano. As a child prodigy, he appeared in concerts in Poland and abroad. He
studied in Berlin and graduated its music academy. During the war he was in
Warsaw. He was hiding and was saved. He presently lives in Poland. Wladyslaw
Szpilman has a prominent position in the world of music in Poland and he is
among the directors of the Polish Radio. |

1) As per A. Szpilman in an email message from 3 October 2003, Karol Gimpel was killed by Soviet NKWD and did not die in a hospital in Buchara.
2) As per A. Szpilman in an email message from 3 October 2003, Leon Borunski was in Otwock for treatment of the tuberculosis and returned shortly before the mass deportations to Treblinka. He was murdered by the Germans in Treblinka (source: “The Pianist”, By W. Szpilman).
