The editorial board of "Haaretz" newspaper received this letter from Bialystok, date 26.11.1939:
Dear friend, we appeal to you by the name of groups of our friends who are staying in Bialystok and try their best to return to Palestine and ask your urgent help.
We have appealed here to the local authorities, who are treating us well, and with their help we have communicated with the British Consulate in Moscow.
We appeal to you to contact our families and advise that we are healthy and hope to return with your assistance (please appeal to the proper institutions in Jerusalem) and see you soon:
