FRIDAY, JUNE
27, 1941
The Nazi vandals entered Bialystok and on that very day, herded 2,000
Jews into the large Synagogue, where they were burned alive, along with the
city's Sage. In the chronicles of annihilated Bialystok, the victims of that
tragic day are known as the "Freitogdige."
THURSDAY,
JULY 3, 1941
The murderers shot to death 300 Jews, the city' intellectuals, in the
village of Pietrasze, in the vicinity of Bialystok. These martyrs are known
as the "Donershtogdige".
SATURDAY,
JULY 12, 1941
On that "Black Sabbath" the German monsters dragged 5,000 Bialystoker
Jews into an extermination camp on the city's outskirts, where they were
shot to death. The victims of that horrible execution are known as the
"Shabbosdige."
FRIDAY, AUGUST 1, 1941
The barbarous Nazis set up the Bialystoker ghetto where 60,000 Jews were
imprisoned.
SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER, 1941
The German beasts exiled 6,000 Bialystoker Jews to Pruzhany (Belarus), for forced
labor, where they were savagely tortured.
NOVEMBER,
1942
During that period, Jews of the cities and towns in the vicinity of
Bialystok were slain in mass executions and deportations to death camps, and
the beautiful Jewish Bialystok environs, along with their 200,000 Jews, were
obliterated.
FRIDAY,
FEBRUARY 5, 1943
The first liquidation of the Bialystoker ghetto was launched, during
which 12,000 Jews were exiled to death camp Treblinka.
AUGUST 16-23,
1943
During this period the final liquidation of the ghetto took place,
marked by heroic resistance of the ghetto Jews against the monstrous
oppressors. In that sorrowful week, the ghetto was completely wiped off the
face of the earth, the resistance crushed in a wave of blood and murder of
the remaining 40,000 martyrs and Jewish Bialystok was turned into a huge
heap of ashes and dust. |

That is the tragic score of what has happened to a flourishing city and its
Jews wiped off the map by the greatest brutality and heinousness in human
history; only a cold slab over a mass grave bears mute witness to the great,
horrible tragedy.
But the memory of our beloved Bialystok and its sacred
martyrs has not been obliterated from our minds and hearts. We shall ever
remember them with pride and reverence.
May this photo-gallery serve, therefore, as our
monument to the remains and memory of our hometown and Landsleit who - in
annihilation and death - have entrusted to us the heritage of LIFE, their
last will and testament, bidding us to continue the links in Bialystok
golden chain in every community throughout the far-flung earth.

פלישת הרוצחים הגרמנים לעיר ביאליסטוק, שריפת בית
הכנסת הגדול בעיר על כ- 2000 יהודים-גברים שניצודו והושלכו לתוכו מכל הרחובות
אשר בסביבתו (הללו נקראו בפני העם "די פרייטיקדיקע").
יום חמישי, כ"ט בתמוז תש"א (3
ביולי 1941)
נחטפו 300 גברים-יהודים, רובם אנשי אינטליגנציה,
והוצאו להורג ביער פיעטראשע שליד העיר ביאליסטוק (נראו בפי העם "די
דאנערשטאגדיקע").
יום שבת, י"ז בתמוז תש"א (12
ביולי 1941)
נחטפו על ידי הנאצים הרוצחים 5,000 גברים בעיר
ביאליסטוק והובלו להורג ביער פיעטראשע. השבת הזו נקראה בפי יהודי ביאליסטוק
"השבת השחורה".

שישי, ח' באב תש"א (1 באוגוסט 1941)
הוקם הגטו על ידי הנאצים ורוכזו בו 60,000 יהודים
בתנאים בלתי-אנושיים.
חודש תשרי תש"א (ספטמבר –
אוקטובר 1942)
החלו שילוחים של 6000 יהודים, תושבי ביאליסטוק לגטו
פרוז'אני, לעבודות פרך ועינויים.
חודש כסלו תש"א (נובמבר 1942)
הנאצים עינו והרגו בהוצאות להורג המוניות ומשלוחים
למחנות המוות, בעיקר טרבלינקה,
כ-200,000 יהודים מהערים והעיירות של מחוז ביאליסטוק.
יום שישי, ל' בשבט תש"ג (5
בפברואר 1943)
החל השלב הראשון של חיסול גטו ביאליסטוק (האקציה
הראשונה) שנמשך עשרה ימים. בפעולה זו נפלו קרבן כ-2000 יהודים במקום וכ-12,000
הובלו לתחנת ההרג טרבלינקה.
יום שני, ט"ו באב תש"ג (16
באוגוסט 1943)
החל שלב החיסול הטראגי טוטאלי של הגטו. פרץ המרד
בגטו ביאליסטוק במאבק חסר-סיכוי כנגד באויב האכזר והמזוין. במרד נספו יותר
מ-1000 לוחמים. פעולות החיסול נמשכו מספר שבועות במהלכן נשלחו כ-40,000 יהודי
גטו ביאליסטוק להשמדה. בכך חוסלה קהילת ביאליסטוק כולה בתקופת מלחמת העולם
השנייה. |

זו היא התמצית הטראגית של מה שאירע לעירנו הפורחת וליהודיה
שנמחו מעל פני האדמה על ידי אכזריות ברוטאלית שאין דומה לה בתולדות האנושות;
רק לוח זכרון צונן מעל גבי קבר האחים נשאר עדות אילמת לטרגדיה
נוראה זו.
אך זכרון ביאליסטוק וקדושיה לא ימוש מלבבנו וזכרוננו.
לעולם נזכור אותם בגאווה ויראת כבוד.
יהיה אלבום-תמונות זה, האנדרטה
לשרידים וזכרון לעיר הולדתנו ה ובני עירנו אשר העבירו
לנו את מורשת החיים, ואשר משאלתם וצוואתם האחרונה מצווה עלינו לשמור על
קשרים לשלשלת הזהב של כל קהילות ביאליסטוק בכל מקום בהם יהיו על פני האדמה.
