Subject: Searching Siekerka (Shekerka) from Gombin, Poland...
I am posting this inquiry favour an elderly friend who has no internet access, Shmuel Levkovitch.
He had an uncle in Gombin: Hersz Lajb Siekarka , married to Gitel nee Nirensztejn from Warsaw. They had one daughter: Hinda, who must be in her early twenties while the war broke out.
The family is commemorated in, Beit Gombin, Tel Aviv :
"Yizhak and Sara Simcha and Yehoshua Shekerka and Hersz Laib Gitel and Hinda Shekerka."
Also in the Business Directory of Gombin: Siekerka Izak, textile merchant.
In the Yizkor book of Gombin, Reb Itzhak Siekerka is commemorated in the Yiddish Yizkor part, page 225 "R' Itzhak Siekerke umgekumen oyf kidush ha'shem, ongezener ortodeksisher tuer".
In Abraham Seideman testimony, recently posted I read the following:
"On the following day, Sunday, November the 2nd, we left Gombin, Moishe Shlang who had a "permit" to travel, drove us in his wagon. With us on the journey, was a son-in-law of Shekerka's (whose wife and daughter perished in the bombardment). He was a resident of Eretz Israel who had come to Gombin on a visit only to be caught in the war."
Please advise me if you can, the destiny of this man Shekerka, if is known to you and if he survived the war. Seideman doesn't mention him anymore.
Shmuel Lewkovitch never heard about his Shekerka family from Gombin since the war. he is over 80 years old... please help him.
Thank you very much,
